VIDEO: Donegal man becomes viral sensation after random singing appearance on Nashville radio

Conor Heneghan

This is a great story.

Plenty of well-known Irish artists have been making a significant impact Stateside of late but it turns out that some not so well-known ones are raising some eyebrows too.

Donegal man Diarmaid McGee is currently in Nashville on holiday with his aunt and randomly got an invite to perform a song on the Bobby Bones show, a weekday country morning show based in a town widely associated with that genre of music.

Diarmaid performed a cover version of Eric Church’s ‘Like a Wrecking Ball’ and it went down a storm with listeners, with an accompanying video on Facebook clocking up a little short of 80,000 views, just under 500 shares and over 3,500 likes in just a few hours.

Did you catch the random Irish listener that stopped by the show and made all the girls SWOON? Here he is singing Eric Church “Wrecking Ball.” WHAT!?

And deservedly so too; fair to say this guy can play and is well able to hold a note too.

Something tells us we’re going to be hearing a lot about Diarmaid in the future.
