VIDEO: Foo Fighters hero Dave Grohl being interviewed in Dublin during ’96 is nostalgic gold

My hero

Paul Moore

My hero.

Very few musicians have been as embraced by the Irish public in the way that Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl has. To be fair, it’s practically impossible to dislike the nicest man in music because he somehow manages to mix his status of being a rock god with a genuine decency.

Foo Fighters were one of the very first bands that I ever saw live, a memorable gig in The Ambassador in ’02 will stay with me forever, but the band were no strangers to Irish audiences after playing the Féile in ’96 and Dave Fannign managed to catch up with them in this nostalgic interview.

One of the best YouTube channels to follow is killianm2 because it’s an absolute goldmine of Irish TV and this could be one of the bets clips around.

The latest video features the wonderful Dave Fanning interviewing Grohl and it’s a fascinating watch. Take a look as he chats about the transition from being a drummer in Nirvana to the frontman of Foo Fighters, the nature of being in the limelight and how he hates his voice.
