While social media appeared divided last night, it is hard not to enjoy this stunning version of the band's best loved songs.
From the time they were announced as headliners, there was controversy over the decision to have Metallica at Glastonbury. However, similar to the fandango that surrounded Jay Z's appearance at the festival a few years back, it seems that after the actual gig the move can be deemed a success.
A quick scan of Twitter last night saw lots and lots of support, and a smattering of dismay at the performance but the
reviews in today's papers are stuffed with words like 'masterclass', 'fantastic' and 'relentless'. If you missed it, now you can make up your own mind.
YouTube is stuffed with clips from the show this morning but we decided the best way to bring you a flavour of the gig was to post this, Metallica's epic seven-and-a-half minute version of 'One'.
