VIDEO: Noel Gallagher dedicates ‘Half the World Away’ to Caroline Aherne in moving tribute

Paul Moore

“I’ve been lost I’ve been found but I don’t feel down”.

There have been various wonderful tributes paid to the immensely talented comedian Caroline Aherne following her sad passing and former Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher is the most recent person to pay his respects. As many of you will know, the superb Oasis track Half the World Away was the theme song to Aherne’s critically acclaimed show, The Royle Family.

Hours before going on stage in Nashville, the High Flying Birds frontman was informed that his friend had sadly passed away. Gallagher decided to dedicatea very special performance of the song to Aherne’s memory by saying “I want to dedicate the next song to a friend of mine who died this afternoon. Her name was Caroline and she was a very, very, very funny woman. She used this next song on a very, very, very, very brilliant sitcom in England called The Royle Family.”

Take a look.
