Warning issued over fake Longitude festival competition that is catching out a lot of your friends

Alan Loughnane

Wise up, people…

A huge amount of people are being caught out by a fake Facebook competition run by a bogus Facebook page called Longitude Festival 2017.

The page is in no way connected to the official, legitimate Longitude Facebook page, but it has managed to fool a great number of people into entering a fake competition.

The post states:

“To celebrate the recent launch of our page we are giving away two V.I.P tickets which includes meet and greets, free drinks (18+) and much more,
To enter all you have to do is tag a friend, like and share the post.
Draw will be held Saturday @ 1pm EST.
Winners will be PM’d.

Best of luck!”

It is an unofficial page and in no way connected to the official Longitude page but still, at the time of writing, over 28,000 people had shared the post and 31,000 people had commented on the post.

Speaking to JOE, MCD productions warned people over the fake page and advised people not to share any posts from the page.

They have said the page has been reported to Facebook.
