The lads.

Westlife are enjoying something of a career renaissance, having returned for some notably high profile shows earlier this year.

Not ones to rest on their laurels, the four-piece have Cork in their sights next year, following this week’s announcement of their first ever gig at Páirc Ui Chaoimh.

Keeping that momentum up, the band have already gone and revealed their support act for the occasion.

Officially unveiled on Wednesday morning, acclaimed UK singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé will join the boys down south on Friday 28 August, 2020.

It marks Sandé’s first Irish appearance since performing at Croke Park with Michael Bublé in the summer of 2018.

Tickets for next summer’s Páirc Ui Chaoimh extravaganza, priced from €59.50 including booking fee, go on sale this Friday 20 September at 9am via Ticketmaster and usual outlets nationwide.

“Headlining Páirc Uí Chaoimh for the first time ever is a dream come true for all of us,” Westlife said in a joint statement following Monday’s press conference.

“We’re incredibly excited for a show which will be different and more spectacular than anything we’ve ever done before.”
