Westlife announce special guests for Croke Park shows

Dave Hanratty

Westlife Croke Park support act

One part X Factor, one part rising Irish talent…

Westlife are very much back in a big way.

The four piece (Brian McFadden isn’t involved, tragically) have released a couple of Ed Sheeran-powered new singles and have a string of huge sold out dates in their sights as the summer comes into focus.

There’s even an album on the way, with Spectrum arriving in September.

In addition to a run of gigs at Belfast’s SSE Arena, the boys will headline Dublin’s historic Croke Park for a two-night-stand on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 July.

A limited number of extra tickets will go on sale this Friday 10 May via Ticketmaster, but don’t expect them to last too long.

If you do miss out, there’s the chance to catch at least one of the Croke Park gigs in cinemas, so it’s not the end of the world.

But if you are going, you’ll probably want to know who’s on support duties.

Announced on Tuesday, both X Factor champion James Arthur and rising Dublin pop outfit Wild Youth will take opening honours on both nights at Croker.

The new tour marks Westlife’s first live dates since June of 2012, so expect a pretty big night or two.
