The classic dodgy Wikipedia entry is taken to a new level by whoever claims that a small Mayo village has a subway station.
Nestled in the Mayo countryside between Knock, Ballyhaunis and Claremoriss the village of Bekan is not one that gets much national coverage but maybe it should.
According to Wikipedia, the village has a subway station on 115th Street. It also tels us that the train will bring you to a nearby lake and to the bog. Which is handy.
We can’t be sure, but we’re pretty sure that Bekan doesn’t have a 115th Street and we’re also 99.99 per cent positive that it doesn’t have a subway station either.
Still, as bizarre Wikipedia edits go, it’s right up there.
Thanks to Diarmuid Ruane for the tip off.
