The series will bring a legendary anti-hero detective to the screen once again.

Netflix has just released a new trailer for Detective Hole, its upcoming show based on the Harry Hole novels by the renowned author Jo Nesbø.

Specifically adapting the fifth book in the series, The Devil's Star, the nine-part crime thriller is set in Oslo, Norway.

The show follows detective Harry Hole (Tobias Santelmann, Hercules), a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons.

Throughout the season, he hunts for a serial killer, while also attempting to bring the corrupt cop Tom Waaler (Joel Kinnaman, Altered Carbon) to justice.

Another Nesbø novel, The Snowman, was previously made into a movie in 2017 starring Michael Fassbender as Harry Hole.

A commercial and critical flop, Detective Hole is set to be much better.

Not only is Nesbø more involved with this adaptation, creating and writing the show, but it also boasts a great cast.

This includes Anders Danielsen Lie (Sentimental Value), Ane Dahl Torp (The Ugly Stepsister), Eili Harboe (Succession), Ingrid Bolsø Berdal (Westworld), Jesper Christensen (Casino Royale) and Peter Stormare (Fargo).

Acclaimed musicians Nick Cave and Warren Ellis (Wind River) will also compose the original score for the crime thriller.

Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole will land on Netflix on Thursday, 26 March 2026.
