Gardaí have arrested 11 people as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged sexual exploitation of children.

Six men and five women with ages ranging from 20 – 70 years old were arrested in Limerick, Tipperary and Kerry on Monday.

They are being detained at various Garda Stations in Limerick, Cork and Clare under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

It is believed that the children involved were residents in the Newcastle West Garda District in Limerick.

The arrests were carried out in conjunction with the Limerick Divisional Protective Services Unit.
