Homenews

13 miners have died following an explosion at a mine in the Czech Republic.

The workers had been employed by the OKD mining company. It has been confirmed by the company that 11 of the miners were Polish, while the other two were from the Czech Republic. In addition, it is believed that at least 10 other miners were injured in the explosion. The explosion occurred at the CSA mine near the town of Karvina. The incident has been referred to a methane explosion. The workers were almost a full kilometre underground when the explosion occurred. Polish President Andrzej Duda has paid his respects to the dead on his official Twitter account. He wrote: "It is highly probable that 11 Poles were killed in the mine in Karviná. " O Lord, keep the families of the miners in your care. RIP." https://twitter.com/AndrzejDuda/status/1076008742473383937
