The boy was airlifted to hospital and is in a critical condition.
At around 3pm today (Sunday 4 August), London police were called to the Tate Modern gallery, and they arrested a 17-year-old male after he allegedly threw a 6-year-old boy from the tenth floor viewing platform.
The gallery was locked down while the boy was airlifted away and taken to hospital, where he is reported to be in a critical condition.
The 17-year-old has been arrested and held on suspicion of attempted murder, and several members of the public gave witness statements.
One witness stated (via RTE News) that after hearing a loud bang, she heard a woman screaming “Where’s my son, where’s my son?”
The witness also claimed that the suspect was restrained by members of the public, and upon the police arriving, he “just stood there and was quite calm.”
Police said of the suspect: “There is nothing to suggest that he is known to the victim.”
Further details to follow.
