Weather warning

Did you hear the thunder last night?

It’s thought that around 2,000 homes and businesses in the south and east of the country are without power following a night of bad weather.

The ESB are currently dealing with the service interruptions.

“We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting the premises and will restore power as quickly as possible,” the ESB wrote online.

Ireland experienced heavy rain as well as thunder and lightning on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Met Éireann issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for the entire country which was active from 7pm on Thursday until 7am this morning.

The remaining rain will clear on Friday morning but the country is still in for a day of dry spells and showers.

Some of these showers will be heavy and bring with them the chance of spot flooding in some areas.

Road users are also warned to take care as heavy downpours may reduce visibility.
