The latest Covid vaccination figures have been released.

219,200 Covid vaccines have been administered across Ireland as of Wednesday (3 February).

Approximately 57,700 vaccinations have taken place in the past seven days, most of which were people receiving their second doses.

As it stands, 2,900 people are still to be vaccinated in nursing homes, according to the HSE.

Ireland’s vaccine rollout has changed this week, with plans announced to use the Pfizer and Moderna for the over 85s, keeping the recently authorised AstraZeneca vaccine for younger people.

When asked if people aged 18-64 with serious illness will now be vaccinated sooner as a result of the changed rollout plan, Colm Henry said the HSE has asked about this, and that it will come down to National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC)’s advice, and that they’ll continue to look at it.

Ireland has ordered over a million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, of which 35,000 doses will be delivered to the country next week.

Three instalments of the vaccine are due to be delivered in quarter one of 2021.

The HSE also said that they are considering using the Sputnik vaccine which was developed in Russia, due to “encouraging” findings.

HSE Chief Paul Reid announced today that he hopes that daily vaccination figures will be published from Monday.

Stephen Donnelly had previously promised that they would be shared from 25 January onward.
