A 22-year-old man has died following a road collision in Waterford

Very sad news.

Gardaí are investigating and appealing for witnesses following a fatal traffic collision in Waterford on Thursday night.

Shortly before 10pm, Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of a collision on the (R675) Tramore Road near Waterford city.

A 22-year-old man was fatally injured when his motorcycle struck a barrier.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford for a post-mortem examination and the local Coroner has been notified.

Garda forensic collision investigators are examining the scene and local traffic diversions are currently in place at the crash site.
