Thank God for technology.
This cat is definitely getting a film made about him.
He was picked up last Monday wandering an estate near Portadown, Northern Ireland. Nothing too strange in that, except that he had last been seen in Australia.
A microchip on the cat reveals how he originated Down Under and also spent some time wander the streets of London as an alleycat, only to be picked up by a vet in 2004.
According to data on the microchip, our friend is an elderly 25-years-old – most cats live for 12-15 years. We were left wondering in the office if another cat ate the original a few years ago?
Now in the capable hands of the cat protection organisation in Armagh, his carers are hoping to reunite the cat with his original owners in Australia.
Cat protection co-ordinator Gillian McMillen is looking after the cat, now called Ozzie, and said: “We are desperate to unravel the rest of this cat’s past and hopefully reunite him with his owners.
“We have been in touch with the Australian Animal Register and have our fingers and paws crossed on word from them on this cat.”
Here’s hoping Ozzie manages to find his way back to his original owners.
