41 more people have died from Covid-19 and 778 new cases confirmed in Ireland

Very sad news.

41 more people have died from Covid-19 in Ireland the Department of Health has announced.

It takes the total number of people who have died in the Republic of Ireland from the virus to 571.

778 new cases of the virus were also confirmed in the country with 630 of these confirmed in Irish labs and 148 in German labs.

There are now 14,758 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland with 3,573 of these associated with healthcare workers.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 6,934 (50% of all cases) followed by Cork with 979 cases (7%).

Of the 41 deaths reported, 35 occurred in the east, two in the north-west and four in the west of the country.

The median age of those who died was 83.
