The Republic of Ireland’s death toll is now 1,063.

52 more people in Ireland have died in connection with Covid-19.

As well as that, the announcement from the Department of Health on Saturday evening revealed that another 377 cases had been confirmed in the country.

The total amount of confirmed cases now stands at 18,561, while the Republic of Ireland’s death toll is currently at 1,063.

As has been the case, Dublin has the highest number of cases at 9,010 (50% of all cases) followed by Cork with 1,103 (6%).

As of midnight, Thursday 23 April, 2,536 of confirmed cases (14%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 344 cases have been admitted to ICU.

4,847 of Ireland’s confirmed cases are associated with healthcare workers.

Based on the information that’s available, it is believed that community transmission accounts for 48% of cases, close contact accounts for 48%, travel abroad accounts for 4%.

The HSE confirmed that it is working to identify any contacts the patients may have had to provide them with information and advice to prevent further spread.
