Gardaí arrest man in Derek Coakley-Hutch murder investigation

Derek Coakley-Hutch was shot dead in January 2018.

Gardaí investigating the murder of Derek Coakley-Hutch, who was shot dead on 20 January 2018, arrested a man in his mid-20s in connection with the murder on Friday morning.

The man is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under the provisions of section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, as amended.

He is the third person to be arrested in relation to this investigation.

Derek Coakley-Hutch was shot a number of times in the head as he sat in a car at the Bridgeview halting site in Dublin in January of last year.

Coakley-Hutch was known to Gardaí and had a number previous convictions, including robbery.

At the time of his death, he was aware that threats had been made against his life and had received a formal Garda information message of the threats against him.

Coakley-Hutch is one of 20 people to have been killed in the Kinahan-Hutch feud of recent years.
