Donnelly said: "We have opted into a number of Advanced Purchase Agreements via EU. Right now, Pfizer is the only vaccine approved for use by EU regulator.
"We’re due to receive 40,000 vaccines a week from Pfizer in Jan and Feb. It’s a two dose vaccine. Every EU country is getting a pro rata share based on population size."
Donnelly also discussed the fact that as more vaccines become available and manufacturers scale up production, supply will increase. Ireland has ordered approximately 7.6 million doses from Pfizer, Moderna and AstraZenec, with the latter two expected to be approved soon.
He said: "Will keep you all updated on our progress with the vaccine rollout regularly. Keep safe. Stay home. Wear masks. Keep your distance. We can suppress this virus again with everyone’s support. We will get through this difficult time. There are better days ahead."
