Sad news from Dublin this evening…

98Fm sports broadcaster Johnny Lyons has been found dead at his home in Dublin.

Lyons hosted the popular Now That’s What I Call Sport show on Sundays and also spent time on Premier League Live on Today FM.

He had been off work with a broken ankle but had been due to return next week.

After colleagues had trouble contacting him, his body was found in his Dublin City centre apartment on Wednesday evening.

In a statement on the 98FM Facebook page they said:

“Everyone at 98FM is heartbroken at the death of our dear colleague and great friend, Johnny Lyons.

“Johnny died suddenly and peacefully at his home in Dublin.

“Johnny has been the backbone of our sports team for over 20 years. His larger than life personality and passion for sport defined Johnny for so many.

“We will miss you so much.

Rest in peace.”
