This is such a lovely story which should highlight a very serious issue…

While many of us are preparing to spend the Christmas holiday’s with our families and loved ones there are always people on the other end of the spectrum.

That’s why we really love this story that highlighted the positive impact that social media can play in people’s lives.

Corkman George Cunningham has been living without a permanent residence in Kinsale and was recently contacted by the Facebook page Humans of Ireland for a brief interview.

George told photographer Lee Furlong that his one Christmas wish was “finding a place to have a Christmas dinner. If I could find a B&B that’d included a Christmas dinner I’d pay the money.”

The story was shared on their Facebook page and it has since gone viral with plenty of charitable people offering George food and a place to enjoy Christmas dinner, however, the best outcome was yet to come.

George’s sister Sheelagh contacted the photographer and said that she hadn’t seen her brother in 12 years, but was actively searching for him in order to plan a family reunion this Christmas.

Speaking with Sky News, Lee said he had no way to contact George, but he managed to find him after ringing a few people in Kinsale.

We’re happy to say that George was finally able to get in contact with his sister and that the family will be enjoying Christmas dinner back in Ballybrack in Dublin for Christmas.
