A list of the worst clamping blackspots in Dublin in 2014

If you did, your vehicle was one of 56,601 vehicles to be clamped in the capital last year according to figures released today.

The cost of de-clamping those vehicles came to a cool €4.24 million, which went towards the €29.3 million collected in parking charges by Dublin City Council and €88 million in the country overall.

Merrion Square West, where 733 vehicles were clamped last year, was Dublin’s worst clamping blackspot, followed by Mespil Road (720), Ormond Quay Upper (656) and Pearse Street (652).

  5. Waterloo Road – 620
  6. Jervis Street – 617
  7. Wolfe Tone Street – 615
  8. North Lotts – 592
  9. Burlington Road – 581
  10. Merrion Square South – 548

The study also revealed that Dublin City Council spent €10 million on parking management services last year, while county councils throughout the country reaped €15.4 million from parking charges in 2014.

Unconfirmed reports, meanwhile, suggested that the percentage of people incredibly p*ssed off upon discovering their clamped vehicle was upwards of 99.99%.
