Shocking and tragic.
The man who was assaulted in Cow’s Lane last night has died in St. James’ Hospital this evening.
The Gardaí believe that a group of men were involved in the incident, and are seeking mobile phone footage of the fracas which has ended in the most devastating of outcomes.
The deceased has not been named but it is believed that he is in his mid-twenties.
Four men have been arrested in connection with the incident and are being held in custody at separate locations.
Gardai have appealed for anyone who was in the area of Cow’s Lane between 8.30pm and 9.00pm yesterday evening to come forward with any information or video phone footage they may have.
