A man has died following a traffic collision in Tipperary

The incident occurred this morning.

One man has died following a road collision in Tipperary, while another man is currently in critical condition as a result.

Gardaí are investigating the collision involving three cars that occurred at approximately 6.50am on Sunday at South Lodge, Carrick-On-Suir.

The front seat passenger of one of the cars, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The rear seat passenger of another car involved, a man in his 20s, was taken to St. Luke’s General Hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.

No other serious injuries were reported.

A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and he is currently being detained at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Forensic Collision Investigators are currently at the scene and the road is closed. Local diversions are also in place.

Gardaí at Clonmel are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the area at the time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
