“Unseasonably wet and very windy weather is expected.”

A status yellow weather warning has been issued for all of Ireland.

After Storm Ellen made its way through parts of the country on Wednesday night and the early hours of Thursday morning, it looks like we’re not in the clear just yet.

Met Éireann said that the entire country should expect “heavy squally downpours” and thunderstorms will bring a risk of spot flooding at times today and tonight.

The warning will be in place from 9am on Thursday morning until 5am the following day.

It also said to expect southerly gales today on all Irish costal waters and on the Irish Sea. Winds will reach strong gale force for a time on northern coasts.

As well as that, we’ll get “unseasonably wet and very windy weather” from early Thursday until later in the day on Friday.

Well, shite.

Thousands of homes and business remain without power as a result of Storm Ellen.

The ESB issued a safety notice, saying: “Fallen Electricity Wires are live and dangerous. Never approach or touch them. Call our emergency service immediately.”

Motorists have also been urged to take special care this morning.
