Two women and a 10-year old boy receive stab wounds following aggravated burglary in Cork

Two women, aged in their 20s and 40s, a female teenager and a 10-year old boy received injuries ranging from minor to serious following an aggravated burglary in Cork on Monday night.

Gardaí are investigating an aggravated burglary that occurred at a house in the Glanmire Road area of Mayfield at approximately 11pm.

The two women and the 10-year-old boy received apparent stab wounds during the incident and have been taken to Cork University Hospital with injuries that are described as “serious”. An 18-year-old woman also received minor injuries.

Gardaí, assisted by members of the Regional Support Unit, have arrested a man in his 50s in relation to the incident. He is currently detained at Mayfield Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are continuing.
