AIB text message scam

Be on your guard.

Allied Irish Banks have warned customers to be mindful of a new scam currently doing the rounds.

The hoax comes in the form of SMS, with those who receive the text message asked to active SCA security by clicking on an external link.

Customers are advised to ignore the smishing attempt and make contact with AIB if the text message has been responded to.

“We have been alerted to a fraudulent SMS / smishing attempt targeting AIB asking customers to activate SCA by clicking on a link,” notes an AIB statement issued on Monday morning.

“AIB will never email or text you asking for personal or login information. If you have responded to these texts please contact us immediately.”
