Air China are facing a massive backlash for their ‘racist’ in-flight magazine

Carl Kinsella

Airline Air China are facing a huge online backlash for a warning, reportedly printed in their in-flight magazine, that many have perceived to be racist.

The warning, which describes London as a ‘generally safe place to travel’ adds the caveat that ‘precautions are needed when entering areas mainly populated by Indians, Pakistanis and black people.’

Air China’s parent company is the China National Aviation Corporation, which is a fully-owned subsidiary of the state-owned China National Aviation Holding.

Unsurprisingly, many people have taken to their Twitter accounts to express disbelief and disgust at the message.

According to CNN, an apology appeared on Air China’s North American Twitter account which said that copies of the magazine had been removed from flights – but this apology was soon taken down, and was not replicated on Air China’s main Twitter account or its official Facebook page.
