Participants set off at 8.30 this morning.

Roads are closed around Dublin City Centre this morning as thousands take part in the Dublin City Half-Marathon.

Participants in the sold-out event set off from O’Connell Street at 8.30am this morning and will make their way through the city centre before heading north towards Drumcondra, Raheny and Clontarf, before the finish line in the north-east inner city.

Significant closures are in place since early morning:

  • O’Connell Street (southbound) will be closed from 3am to 1pm
  • O’Connell Street (northbound) will be closed from 6.30am to 10.30am
  • Talbot Street, Marlborough Street and surrounding city centre streets will be closed from around 6am to 10.30am
  • Parnell Street will be closed from 8am to 10.30am

Additionally, parts of the north docklands and Guild Street area, around the finish line, will remain closed until 6pm today.

Mayor Street Lower will reopen at 4pm, while further disruption will be felt along the race route.

Rolling closures have also been applied in certain locations until 1pm.

Full closures can be found on the Dublin City Council website.

In regards to public transport, nearly 30 bus routes will face diversions and delays throughout the morning, particular those around the city centre.

Separately, due to essential works, areas on the Luas Red Line will be affected until tomorrow, May 4.

Passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys.
