Amazon’s most popular seller in Ireland months after the launch of the official Amazon.ie website is, unsurprisingly, a Ryanair cabin bag.

The internet giant launched the Ireland-specific shopping website in March and has revealed the top-selling item in each category.

The best-seller in fashion is a small €20.50 under-seat travel bag that fits Ryanair’s rules and helps travellers avoid big fines when they fly with the budget airline.

If a bag is deemed to be too big it could lead to a charge of €70-75 to check the bag in as hold luggage.

The bag fits Ryanair’s carry-on bag dimensions exactly and includes a water bottle holder. Available in nine different colours, it usually costs €24.22 but is discounted in an early Prime Day sale.

Ryanair says: “All our fares include one small personal bag which can be brought on board, such as a handbag or laptop bag (40x20x25cm), which must fit under the seat in front of you.”

This Ryanair-approved cabin bag is the top selling item on Amazon Ireland.

Amazon says the new Ireland site allows shoppers to switch their Prime subscriptions to their local Amazon site and access 200 million products on sale in Euros. The site offers one-day delivery in Ireland and has a dedicated section for Irish products.

At the launch of the new site Micheál Martin, Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland, said: “This expansion by Amazon will give consumers more choice and better value, as well as help small, medium, and large businesses across the country promote their own Irish and international products. By using Amazon, people know that they will get a well-trusted, great service. It’s good news for all.”

Irish shoppers have another reason to sign up to the new site because next week will see the first ever Amazon Prime Day begin. Amazon will launch four days of deals from midnight on 8 July until 11 July, with tens of thousands of items discounted.

Amazon has promised deals on hundreds of brands and it has already confirmed there will be price drops on Lego, Ninja, Shark and Bose across the four days of deals.
