Tragic news from Down Under.
An Irishman was one of two people killed at an explosion in a shopping centre in Perth yesterday. The explosion occurred as a result of electrical maintenance that was being carried out in the building at the time.
Two other men are said to be in a critical condition in intensive care at the Royal Perth Hospital.
Eyewitnesses described a harrowing scene as the men ran out in flames following a blast from the shopping mall.
People rushed to their assistance to douse the flames, but unfortunately one man was pronounced dead at the scene and another died shortly afterwards in hospital.

One of the eyewitnesses, Jonathan McDonagh, told Associated Press, “I came driving in and saw three people come running out… they were on fire, one fella was dead on the ground. I saw another moving around, obviously not OK. I gave him a good helping hand, as much as I could. They were really burnt badly.”
A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman told JOE.ie that they are providing consular assistance to the deceased man’s family.
