An Post office in Limerick evacuated following report of suspect package

Mail deliveries in Limerick will be subject to delays as a result.

A sorting office for An Post in Limerick was evacuated on Friday morning following a report of a suspect package.

Gardaí in Henry Street in Limerick received a report of a suspect package at the An Post sorting office on Dock Road in Limerick shortly after 6am on Friday morning.

Since then, the building has been evacuated and the army EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team have been notified.

A spokesperson for An Post confirmed to JOE that there will be disruptions to the mail service in Limerick region as a result of the security alert.

An Post hopes to resume normal operations in the Limerick region as soon as possible, but will be guided by the Gardaí and the army EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team before doing so.
