The local community are said to be in shock and “afraid”.

Earlier this week it was reported that the body of 14-year-old Ana Kriegel had been discovered in a disused farmhouse in Lucan, West Dublin.

Since then, local Garda and detectives have been working non-stop in collecting evidence, and they have announced that they hope to make a DNA match based on some sticks and bricks that were discovered nearby, covered in blood.

It is believed that Ana was beaten to death, and detectives told RTE News that she died from blunt force trauma, and that a murder investigation is under way.

Detectives also revealed that they have spoken to a number of teenagers who were with Anastasia before she went missing, and they do not believe that she was the victim of a random attack, but may have been killed by one or more people she knew.

Speaking to KFM, local TD and friend of the family Catherine Murphy said that she believes the local community are still in shock at what has happened:

“I think people are afraid and until this is resolved they will continue to feel that.”

“This is just such an unusual crime, it is very hard to process it and the community are feeling that.”

Gardaí want to hear from anyone who was in St. Catherine’s Park or the Clonee road area on Monday evening and are also appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward, with lead investigator Superintendent John Gordon from Lucan Garda Station stating:

“As you can imagine at this time they are receiving a lot of support from An Garda Siochana but they are extremely distressed and they are also looking for the public’s assistance and privacy as well.”
