Baby it’s cold outside

Baby it’s cold outside.

We were just about to ready to come out of the house after Storm Rachel during the week but we’ll have to turn around and go back inside again having seen the forecast for this weekend.

A ‘bitterly cold’ spell will take effect from tonight and continue until Wednesday, with temperatures hitting a low of -6 or -7 degrees tomorrow night.

Met Eireann have issued a Status Yellow snow-ice warning for all of Ireland which is valid until 3pm tomorrow and there is a good chance of sleet and snow tonight, particularly in Ulster and Atlantic coastal counties.

With severe widespread frost and icy patches, driving conditions are likely to be hazardous for large parts of the weekend, so motorists who do have to travel should proceed with extreme caution on the roads.

Wrap up well, watch your step and stay safe out there folks.
