Anti-lockdown protesters in England demand end to lockdown on day lockdown ends
A protest against Lockdown on 'Freedom Day'...
Thousands of protesters gathered outside Parliament in London this morning to protest for an end to lockdown, despite restrictions in England being lifted today, a day that has been widely anointed as 'Freedom Day'.
Signs reading 'leave our DNA alone', 'unity is freedom' and 'it's not a pandemic, it's an IQ test' were among the most noticeable of many being held aloft by protestors.
'Hang Traitors' read a sign held by a woman wearing a tank top reading 'conspiracy realist' while another sign compared the government to that of Nazi Germany.
According to Metro, reasons for protesting varied amongst those present. Some were there to protest Covid-related fines, others the vaccine and some were calling for the arrest of Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
The crowd reportedly shouted "shame on police" and "arrest Boris" as authorities arrived. One angry protestor even demanded to be let into Parliament as paying taxes make it his land to enter into.
We are responding to a demonstration in Parliament Square this afternoon. A group have blocked the road which is causing traffic disruption.
Officers are on scene, speaking with those taking part in the protest and looking to ease congestion as soon as possible.
