The parents had a special thank you for the frontline staff who helped them in their time of need.
Last week, parents John Feane and Naomi Galvin got an early surprise on the way to the Coombe Hospital in Dublin when their baby arrived sooner than expected.
The pair pulled into the forecourt of an Applegreen outlet in Caragh in Kildare and an ambulance was called.
Once the ambulance arrived, little baby Ellie was delivered safely and continued on her journey to the Coombe Hospital.
Ellie is now home with her parents and will likely hear the story of her birth broken out at every family gathering for many years to come.
“The ambulance crew was just brilliant, they were so calm and reassuring throughout, and everything went incredibly smoothly,” John said.
“They’re a credit to our frontline workers and we’ll always be grateful to them.
“It wasn’t the birth we were expecting but Naomi took everything in her stride, and we couldn’t be happier with our new baby girl.
“We now have a great story to tell Ellie when she grows up and I don’t think we’ll ever drive past that Applegreen station without remembering that night.”
As a gift for the now enlarged family, Applegreen has announced that it will give John and Naomi free fuel for a year.
“To help the Feane family celebrate, we’re delighted to offer them a year’s worth of free fuel plus some extra treats and gifts for baby Ellie and her four proud siblings,” Trevor McBride, Applegreen Regional Manager, said.
“Hopefully, our gift will help John and Naomi to show off their new arrival to friends and family, when it’s safe to do so.”
