The move is in response to “heightened and unprecedented times” following the spread of coronavirus in Ireland.

Applegreen has announced that it will drop fuel prices by up to 10 cent per litre following a 30% crash in oil prices that occurred earlier this week.

There will be an aggregate average price drop of eight cent per litre on Applegreen fuel prices, with a significant number of retail sites offering a 10 cent drop.

In Applegreen, the average price is now 132.2 cent per litre of petrol and 122.1 cent per litre of diesel.

Managing Director at Applegreen Ireland Daire Nolan said that the company is aware of the “heightened and unprecedented times” Ireland is facing as it deals with the spread of the coronavirus.

He said: “At Applegreen we are committed to our ‘low fuel prices, always’ promise to our customers. Since the 1st of January this year our prices have already fallen by 5c, however the recent fall in the crude oil price has now come through the supply chain and we are delighted to be able to drop our prices by up to a further 10c.

“We are acutely aware of the heightened and unprecedented times all of us here in Ireland find ourselves in at the moment and we want to support our communities by leading a price drop across the entire country.”
