AUDIO: A Console therapist speaks out about those Paul Kelly revelations

Tony Cuddihy

An interview on Liveline this afternoon shows the devastation caused to Console’s staff and their clients.

Marie has been working as a therapist with Console for the last year and a half in the Galway area, and spoke to Joe Duffy today about the revelations surrounding the suicide charity’s founder Paul Kelly and his family.

You can read the full story of how Kelly, his wife and his son spent almost €500,000 in company funds on holidays, expensive clothes and restaurants, cars and other high-end items here.

“I was absolutely astounded but we haven’t been paid, ever, on time. At the moment I’m owed around €2,500 by Paul Kelly.”

Marie was quick to reassure her clients, and those associated with other Console therapists, that they’re not going to be let down because of the actions of Paul Kelly.

A clearly upset Marie said: “As a therapist, we’re not going to let the clients down. I will continue to see my clients in Console, or privately, or whatever. We were completely left in the dark. We are astounded and gutted at what happened.”
