Australian inmates escape prison, then break back in after getting drunk

"You're ruining it for the rest of us!"- Kearney

We have heard of some crazy prisoners out there but these guys take the biscuit…

According to ABC, at least four prisoners have been repeatedly escaping from a prison in Darwin, Australia, getting drunk, and then returning to the prison, all the while hoping no one would notice.

JOE thinks that ‘repeatedly’ is the key word in that sentence.

The group, who were in the low-security section of a work release centre at Berrimah jail were believed to have been escaping for a few hours after a 7pm headcount.

The group had been jumping a perimeter fence and meeting with partners who would supply them with alcohol and marijuana then returning and breaking back into the prison before their absence was noticed.

The four drunken inmates were caught shortly after midnight on July 20, after getting into an argument outside of the prison over a mobile phone.

“It is alleged that four of the prisoners had earlier climbed a perimeter fence to retrieve contraband items from someone on the outside,” a spokesman for NT Department of Correctional Services said.

He added the group “may have been out for a while” but that would become clear only after a police investigation.

Whatever the outcome, JOE is sure that these inmates have disobeyed the honour system and ruined it for the rest of the prisoners much like Snake did in The Simpsons.
