A dog has rescued a baby buried alive in a Thailand field.

Ping Pong was found barking and digging in a field near Ban Nong Kham village earlier this week.

The dog’s owner, Usa Nisaikha, said that when he went to investigate he noticed an infant’s leg sticking out from beneath the earth.

The child had been abandoned by its mother in an attempt to conceal her pregnancy from her parents. The baby was taken to hospital where it was later declared healthy.

Nisaikha told Khaosod Newspaper that Ping Pong lost the use of one of his legs when he was hit by a car.

“I kept him because he’s so loyal and obedient, and always helps me out when I go to the fields to tend to my cattle,” he said.

“He’s loved by the entire village. It’s amazing.”

The child’s mother is now in police custody and is under the care of a psychologist. Her parents have decided to raise the baby.
