As well as playing for James Blunt, Walden co-wrote many of the Babyshambles songs, including six of the sixteen on the band's debut album.

Walden left the band in 2006 after failing to join their UK tour.

Walden was in a number of London bands prior to joining the Babyshambles, including Fluid, the Six Cold Thousand and White Sport.

Pete Doherty of The Libertines once called Walden “the best guitar player I’ve ever worked with”, and many fans echoed this sentiment.

One person wrote on Instagram: "THE best guitarist of his generation, such an exciting and original person to watch. RIP"

Another commenter said: "So sad to hear this. So sorry. He was an incredible person and guitar player a sound like no other."

Meanwhile one fan put: "I’m devastated by this news. Pat was a kind soul. I remember his kind words and how he helped me after I was assaulted in Camden. An incredible musician. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones."
