Bad news for hay fever sufferers as pollen count is expected to hit a high this week

Hay fever

Balls.

Summer is the best time of the year. Definitely.

Especially when we get weather like this. Ice creams, games of football in the park, trips to the beer garden. All in the scorching summer sun.

You just can’t beat it.

But there’s one big downside. And that’s the bloody hay fever.

The idea of going and lying in a park with a lovely picnic sounds good on paper, but then 10 minutes later your eyes are basically closed over from swelling.

It’s not just the eyes though. You’ll be sneezing so many times that your mates would probably rather if you just went home.

And if you think this week has been bad, it’s about to get a hell of a lot worse.

Met Eireann took to Twitter to post the pollen count for the next few days, and it’s not looking good.

Leinster, Munster, Connacht and Ulster are being warned of a “very high” pollen count. Yep. A nationwide hay fever epidemic.

You may as well just stay indoors til Christmas.

And if you are brave enough to venture outside, just make sure you don’t forget a packet of tissues.

But if you’re really struggling, here’s a few tips that might help you through this God forsaken season.
