Tsunami warning issued to Bali, Lombok and the rest of Indonesia following major earthquake

A magnitude 7 earthquake has struck near the Indonesian islands of Bali and Lombok

The earthquake, which registered 7.0 on the Richter scale and struck at a depth of 15km (9.3 miles), has now caused a tsunami warning to be issued. It struck at 6:45 pm western Indonesia time and caused residents and tourists to flee their homes, restaurants and hotels. "All the hotel guests were running so I did too. People filled the streets," said Michelle Lindsay, an Australian tourist in Bali to Reuters news agency. The epicentre was 2km east-south-east of Loloan and tremors were felt for several seconds in Bali. Indonesia's Disaster Mitigation Agency has stated there is "potential" for a tsunami to take place.
