Bartender charged with manslaughter after the man he served 56 shots to died

So sad

This is scary.

A pub in the town of Clermont-Ferrand in France had something called their “in-house shots record” last year.

It’s pretty self-explanatory, they record the highest number of shots one person can drink over the course of a night and put them on a leaderboard.

They aren’t doing it anymore because a man died after breaking the record last September.

Renaud Prudhomme took on the drinking challenge and somehow managed to drink 56 (fifty six) shots over the course of a night.

He was obviously very drunk so he had to be helped home by his daughter, and soon after they arrived back she had to call an ambulance to rush Renaud to hospital where he sadly died the following day.

The bartender who served him the drinks has received a suspended jail sentence after he was convicted of manslaughter for encouraging the victim to try the challenge and letting him down the shots.

He was given a four-month suspended sentence by a local court this week and banned from working in a bar for a year.

Hat-tip to The Guardian.
