Batches of Häagen-Dazs ice cream recalled due to “unauthorised pesticide” presence

Certain batches of Häagen-Dazs ice cream are being recalled in Ireland due to the presence of an "unauthorised pesticide". The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) issued an alert on Friday (8 July) about the recall for the batches, which originated from France. The pesticide is ethylene oxide, which is not permitted for use in foods sold in the European Union but is approved for use by other countries outside of it. Batches of Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Tub with a pack size of 460ml and of the Häagen-Dazs Vanilla Collection with a pack size of 4x95ml are affected if they have a best before date up to and including 21 May, 2023. https://twitter.com/FSAIinfo/status/1545434752374771717 "Although the consumption of the contaminated product does not pose an acute risk to health, there is an increased risk if there is continued consumption of ethylene oxide in contaminated food over a long period of time," the FSAI's recall alert reads.
