There have been some amazing pictures of the sky above Ireland in recent weeks but they don’t come much more beautiful than the sky above Musgrave Park during Munster’s win over London Irish last night.

Munster got their preparations for the start of the Rabo12 campaign next week off to the perfect start with a 27-13 friendly victory over London Irish at Musgrave Park, where hat-trick hero Ronan O’Mahony was particularly impressive.

Arguably even more impressive was the snap of the skyline taken by Inpho’s James Crombie just as London Irish replacement hooker Jimmy Stevens had thrown a ball into the lineout as darkness was about to descend on the Cork venue, with the floodlights doing a decent impression of the sun on the far side of the pitch.

Unfortunately, we won’t see a backdrop like this or a pitch in such pristine condition when winter takes hold, but competitive rugby is back and that should be enough to warm the cockles of oval ball enthusiasts for the cold months ahead.
