Great to see him like this.

In a recent documentary, legendary Scottish comedian Billy Connolly admitted that he is “near the end” and that he felt his life was “slipping away”, as he spoke about his fight with Parkinson’s disease.

He has since sent out a cheerful musical message assuring fans he is “not dead” following a programme documenting his battles with cancer and Parkinson’s.

Offering an update, while happily strumming a banjo on a lake, Connolly said: “Not dying, not dead, not slipping away. Sorry if I depressed you. Maybe I should have phrased it better.”

The video was posted by his wife to her Twitter account, with the caption: “Today”.

Connolly had worried fans in the documentary, by saying that:

“My life, it’s slipping away and I can feel it and I should. I’m 75, I’m near the end. I’m a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning. But it doesn’t frighten me, it’s an adventure and it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away,” he said.

He added: “As bits slip off and leave me, talents leave and attributes leave. I don’t have the balance I used to have, I don’t have the energy I used to have. I can’t hear the way I used to hear, I can’t see as good as I used to. I can’t remember the way I used to remember.”
