The search is in relation to a trawler that had been reported missing in early January.

Gardaí have confirmed today that navy divers have recovered a body from the water off the coast of Wexford.

The operation took place today (Friday 24 January) at 10am, at the site of a wreck of a fishing vessel, just off the coast of Hook Head.

On Sunday 5 January, Gardaí and the Coastguard were alerted that a trawler had gone missing off the Wexford coast, with two men still on board.

A major search operation was then put in place with the Royal National Lifeboat Institute and the Coastguard.

One man was recovered from the water on that first day of searching. He was taken to University Hospital Waterford, but he passed away later that day.
