A body has been found in the search for missing 24-year-old student Jastine Valdez.

The discovery was made in the Puck’s Castle area of South Dublin on Monday afternoon.

The area is currently being investigated by a team of Gardaí and members of the Civil Service and Defence Forces.

The body has not been formally identified, and Gardaí have appealed for privacy for the Valdez family at this time.

Gardaí had previously issued a fresh appeal for information following an incident on Sunday evening in Cherrywood Business Park in which a 40-year-old man was shot and killed during an altercation with armed Gardaí.

Valdez was abducted close to her home in Enniskerry on Saturday evening.

Eyewitnesses to the abduction saw her being bundled into a Nissan Qashqai on the R760 Kilcrony road near her home in Enniskerry at a 6.45pm on Saturday evening.

The car was spotted by a member of the public at the business park in Cherrywood on Sunday evening; when Gardaí approached the man they discovered he was armed with a knife, and the 40-year-old was subsequently shot and killed.

On Monday, Ms Valdez’s purse and identification card were recovered by Gardaí during a search in Rathmichael in County Dublin.
